Craft project Inspiration: keep a Journal of creativity and to spark new ideas Craft

Exemple list

Craft Project - How To Make Fashion Doll Furniture Out Of Plastic Canvas

Do you have a little one who loves to play with 11 1/2" tall fashion dolls? Does you little one need some new furniture to go along with her dolls? If so, I have an easy to make craft project to share with you today that involves using a skein of acrylic yarn, needle and some 7 count plastic canvas. This project is great for beginners and works up in just one afternoon.

You can make just about any type of fashion doll furniture that you would like by using standard plastic canvas and some yarn. To design your own patterns, simple sketch out what you would like to make on graph paper and then cut out your graph paper and use it as a template.

Supplies Needed:

2 sheets 7 count plastic canvas (clear or a color to match yarn)

1 skein acrylic yarn

plastic canvas sewing needle

sharp scissors

To Make The Chair:

1 seat - 19 holes by 19 holes

2 seat backs - 19 holes by 22 holes high

4 leg pieces - 19 holes by 18 holes high

note - you can leave your leg pieces in a solid block shape or cut them to resemble a block style letter A, the choice is up to you.

Stitching: I did a simple tent stitch but I did it over 3 holes at a time going top to bottom to make vertical rows. I used 4-ply Acrylic yarn. You will first stitch your seat, seat backs and then the legs, leaving all outer edges unfinished. Once done, place the two seat backs wrong sides together and stitch them together using a whip stitch but leave the bottom edge unfinished. Stitch three of the chair leg sections to the seat. Place the seat back and fourth leg section together and whip stitch to the remaining unfinished edge of the seat. Finish up by stitching around the legs and openings so that your chair has no unfinished edges.

To Make The Side Table:

table top - 19 holes by 19 holes squared

8 legs - 3 holes wide by 18 holes tall

Stitching: I simply used a tent stitch and stitched the top of the table and then the eight legs. Once done I stitched all eight legs to my table by joining two leg pieces at each of the table's corners. After they are attached using a simple whip stitch, just go around and whip stitch all of your unfinished edges. When stitching the pieces together, just envision your standard look side table with a flat top and four legs.

To Make The Accent Rug:

rug piece measures 22 holes by 22 holes squared

Stitching: You can use a tent stitch or a scotch stitch to add texture and interest to the accent rug. Once you decide on the stitch you want to use, work the center first and then finish up by whip stitching around your outer edges. You can leave the edges plain or add a 1/2" fringe to them, that choice is up to you.

Craft Project - easy to make beaded snowflake ornaments

If you are looking for a craft project that you can do with older children, I think that this will depend on your needs. You will need to go to your local craft shop and buy a few articles, but other than that, they are quite simple.

We made 14 of these ornaments and it us less than $10.00 because I already had paint and glue the hand. It is a great project to do with children aged 5 years and with the supervision of a more adult. We love to do this project with school groups, scout troops and youth groups in the Church. If you make the project as a group project, you will need to have a few adults on hand to help.

Here are the materials you need.

1 "diameter flat round disc back in the form of cork"

Washi Tape Craft Projects

So, you are thinking about purchasing some washi tape or you already have some of this versatile craft product and are wondering what in the world to do with it? Well, I have a few fun (and totally cheap) suggestions for you!

The first and most obvious way to use washi tape is use it as an embellishment in your scrapbooking adventures. Washi tape is excellent for papercrafting and can be used to adhere items to your pages. It can also be used as a ribbon or paper strip replacement, and is so much easier to use! Just rip a piece off and place it where you want it to go. There is no messy glue to fight with, and removing it to reposition is a breeze. There are so many different colors and designs, you are sure to find something that will perfectly match your project.

Secondly, you can use washi tape to decorate your wood crafts. You can find a super inexpensive plain wood photo frame at your local craft store, dollar store, or Walmart and use washi tape to give it life. This is an easy way to create custom frames for you and your family, or to give away as gifts. Making these custom frames is very simple. All you need are a few of your favorite rolls of washi tape and the wood photo frame ($0.99 at Walmart.)

Take one roll of washi tape and tear off a piece (or cut it using scissors if you prefer a clean cut) and place it on the photo frame.
Take another, different roll of washi tape and tear off a piece and place it on the photo frame.
Continue this process until your frame is covered in tape. You can allow some wood to peek through if you desire, or completely cover it in tape.
Don't worry if you "mess up" on your tape placement, it is very easy to remove the tape and replace it.

You can also use this tape to decorate wood letter blocks. This is a simple and easy way to personalize these blocks without a lot of time, effort, and mess. You can approach decorating the letters the same way you would the photo frames.

A third great masking tape craft idea is to use these tapes to decorate plain glass vases. Plain vases can be found at your local Dollar Tree for just a buck! I recommend purchasing various shapes and/or sizes and using the finished product to add a custom, designer touch to your room. Decorating the vases is a cinch. I recommend using scissors to create a clean cut on the washi tape. You will want to cut enough tape to wrap around the vase (horizontally) or enough to hide the tape ends by wrapping them over the lip/base of the vase (vertically).

Fourthly, washi tapes make a great package decoration. You can use them to gift wrap a package. This works especially well if you have a plain colored paper. You can also use them to decorate plain white gift boxes. Additionally, if you are mailing a package this makes an adorable decoration to add to the box (just don't use it in place of packing tape, it rips too easily!).

Lastly, and although not necessarily a craft project, you can use it to adhere important notes to your wall/desk without worrying that it will damage the surface. You can write on washi tape, so it makes a really cute way to label things. Personally, I have used washi tape to label seed pods for my indoor garden which made it that more colorful and cute.

There are so many uses for this awesome decorative tape that it has become a staple in any papercrafter's arsenal. There are a myriad of ways that it can be used, and I am sure that once you start using it you will never want to be without a roll!

You can find a huge selection of washi tape, cute decorative tape, pretty packing tape, and mini deco sets at kawaiitape.com. Check Kawaii Tape out today and find your perfect roll!

Craft Project - How To Make Beaded Crosses Holiday Ornaments

Every year when the Christmas holiday rolls around, I love to sit down and make homemade ornaments to use on my tree, garlands, wreaths and as package toppers. This is a great project to make with older children with some adult supervision. I often make these with church youth groups, scouting troops and school groups.

You can make them any size that you desire by increasing the length of your crafting wire and by purchasing additional beads. The finished size of the ones we made, measure approximately 2" wide by 2 1/2" long.

Materials Needed For The Project

3" piece gold metallic craft wire

2 1/2" piece gold metallic craft wire

4" piece gold metallic thread (hanging cord)

1 package 4 mm gold metallic beads (metal or plastic)

1 package 4 mm faceted plastic beads

1 package tri-beads (plastic)

sharp scissors

12" long ruler

needle nose pliers

(optional) all-purpose liquid craft glue

When it comes to selecting beads for this project, you can use complimentary colors or exact opposites.

Step 1: Measure out the lengths that you will need from the spool of gold wire and cut off the required length. Place the shorter wire 1/3 of the way down on the longer wire and twist it around to secure it into place...to form a cross shape.

Step 2: Starting at the top, slide on a faceted round bead, a tri-bead and another round bead. Finish up with sliding on a gold metallic bead at the end. Using needle nose pliers, twist the end of the wire into a small loop to keep the beads from sliding off. Trim wire end if necessary with scissors.

You will want to repeat step 2 on the two shorter ends, leaving the bottom of the cross for the next step.

Step 3: To finish the bottom of the cross, slide on a round faceted bead, a tri-bead, another round bead, a tri-bead, a faceted bead and finally the gold metallic end bead. Twist the wire into a loop to keep the beads on the wire.

Step 4: Cut a 4" piece of gold metallic cord and thread it through the top wire loop to serve as a hanging cord for your ornament.

Tips: If you find that the beads are sliding around too much and you want them to stay in place on a permanent basic, you can squirt a small dab of glue onto the bead before threading it on the wire pieces. If you don't want to hang them on your tree, you can use suction cups and hang them up on your windows and mirrors.

Choose the Types of wood for your craft projects - Craft Supplies makes all the difference

For the type of creation which is still doing arts and crafts projects, they know that they must choose what type of wood to be used with care in the design of their latest project. There are all types of wood that can be used, and different wood has different types of grain, texture, consistency and flow makes a big difference. Later when they add paint or dye show of things that may not have seen before. It can sometimes make or break a project.

A knot in the wood can often be restricted during the creation of certain types of things, such as a House of the bird, or used for Visual atmosphere of the work completed. Also, particular attention should be given to the wood density and hardness. Pine could be a great thing to make bird houses but if this House of the Tomb bird it may divided by half, and the weather could get her. If the wood is dense, it is very difficult to nails in it the hammer or fix anything for it.

If the grain is too bumpy, it may be difficult for something that sticks to him, or in some cases, it might be easier in that the second material is. Another issue is the weight of wood. If you build something to be light, naturally you want to use the balsa wood. However, it must also be strong you may have to go with a plywood or pine.

If your project is to support sometimes, it makes sense to use a plank of fiber post if it is made for an internal project that will not withstand the elements. In some cases, it makes sense to use exotic wood with high density would like teak.

Nevertheless, what wood you choose for any project that you do, it is logical to have a good amount of various types of wood already in hand, you choose how to go on your project. Please consider this.

Recycled Craft projects - ideas for the artisanal manufacture of crafts of garbage

At this time, landfills are becoming more completed and any anything we can do to help with recycling made a difference. A great way to recycle is to the House of handicrafts with things that you would normally throw.

Before throwing something further, think to yourself: This allows in a craft project? Even if you do not plan to use it immediately, or an idea does not come to mind immediately, always save if you think that it could be reused. Keep a box of some points recycled with your craft supplies, so if you find a project you have already the necessary hand element.

It is much easier to come with a trade if you have ideas on what can be done. But always be creative and try to find new ideas too! Here are some ideas to get you started.

Cleaned with Soup cans or vegetables cans can be used for a variety of crafts. If you are filled with water and allow them to freeze in the freezer, you can punch holes in the side of boxes with a hammer and nails (the ice inside retains the structure and prevents the CAD of sinking). The holes can be drilled to form a design. Outside of the can may be painted and when tea light, are the beautiful luminaries. These can be onto a patio, aligned along the aisle for a party or used inside as beautiful decorations.

Soup can lids can be painted or decorated using cutting and transformed in magnets for the fridge or Christmas ornaments. Photos can be applied using cutting too, and they can be transformed into a mobile family tree.

Rolls of empty toilet paper and paper towels rolls can be used for a variety of crafts, much suitable projects for children. Try to make a pencil Cup holder by gluing three tubes of toilet together vertically and paste them on a solid foundation of cardboard. Empty paper towel rolls, cut in sections of an inch can be transformed into napkin rings. Enough to paint the and glue on sets, such as shells or other embellishments.

Foam plates that come in the framework of many types of meat to grocery store also can be saved and reused for many projects of different boats. They are also large trays to mix paints.

Coffee cans could be made in containers of pretty by simply decorating the outside of their. Children will them covering construction paper and of attaching a foam forms on the outside. Adults can enjoy the cans of decoration by cutting to decorate them. You can have boxes correspond to the décor of any room in your House and then to use these handy containers in your bathroom to take supplies of hair, in the garage to take tools or in the kitchen to the spatulas and spoons... the possibilities are almost unlimited. Coffee cans could also be transformed into beautiful cabins which work very well.

Vacuum milk and cream containers are interesting for some crafts for children, where they can be decorated to look like animals, like a duck or chicks. Old tennis balls can be transformed into puppets, by slicing a slit by the side of the ball to become a mouth. And, of course, there is always the puppet of sock monkey, very useful for a sock who has lost his partner!

Cardboard is used in many craft projects and should always be saved. It serves as a good surface for the paint or the development of projects to protect your work surface. Empty egg cartons can be transformed into small animals or a bouquet of flower of carton of eggs.

I never take in cute boxes of mint or nice glass bottles. They can be decorated by cutting, Nice paper (such as the decorative towels or tissue paper) as bottles of SOAP or case of the pill for your handbag. People love home made gifts.

Pots can be used to make vases pretty candle. Try to fill a jar with sand and add some shells and place a votive candle in the middle. It is a cornerstone of the fast time for your table. Or use the jars to be to fill with the ingredients dry cookie. It is a perfect gift to give a host or hostess at a party. Just cover the lid of the jar with some lovely fabric and a bow, and he is willing to give.

Enjoy your search on the Internet for other fun ways to reuse things you would normally throw. You will feel good to help the environment and make cheap gifts!

Kids Craft Project - Easy Beaded Felt Holiday Tree Ornaments

When my nieces and nephews come to my home to spend an afternoon, they always look forward to crafting with me. I try to pick out easy projects for all of us to do together. We were able to create several of these felt tree ornaments in just a few hours.

What is really great about this particular project is that children ages 7 and up can make them with some adult supervision. All of the supplies that you will need are readily available at your local craft or fabric store. If you are a proficient crafter like myself, you might have all of the supplies already on hand.

Once you complete these beaded ornaments, you can use them to hang on your holiday tree, off a garland, on a wreath or as package toppers. This is also a great project for the kids to do and they can give them out to family members and to their teachers.

Supplies You Will Need:

Green Craft Felt

Various Round Plastic Beads (various colors and size but no larger than 4 mm)

All-Purpose Liquid Craft Glue

Sewing Needle and Dark Green Sewing Thread

Wooden Dowel Sticks (1/8" diameter by 3" long)

Sharp Scissors

Disappearing Ink Marker (for tracing pattern)

Pattern: Simple triangle shape measuring 3 3/4" tall by 2 3/4" wide cut from paper and used as your template.

Step 1: Trace your triangles onto green colored felt and cut out. You will need two green triangles for each ornament that you make.

Step 2: Center your wooden dowel onto one piece of felt, leaving 1 1/2" of the dowel sticking out beyond the felt to resemble a tree trunk. Use a little glue to glue it into place and set aside to dry.

Step 3: Using dark green thread, hand sew various color and sized beads onto the front of one of your triangles.

Step 4: Sandwich the two triangles together (the one with the beads and the one with the wooden dowel). Using a sewing needle and dark green thread, whip stitch around the entire tree's edges, being careful to not pull the stitches too tightly.

Step 5: Use a piece of thread and attach it to the top of the tree for a hanging loop. (I like to double my thread so its a little more sturdier).

Your little beaded felt tree ornaments are now ready to be hung onto your holiday tree.

Craft Project - Primitive Framed Snowman Stitchery Picture

A very good friend of mine just adores handcrafted snowman items and uses them to decorate her home every winter and Christmas season. I decided that I wanted to make her something unique for her holiday gift this year and this is what I made.

This framed snowman stitchery project will take you one afternoon to make and even a beginner can make this one. The project requires no machine sewing as it is done with simple hand stitching. If you don't have a pattern, you can find one in a child's coloring book or look for printable coloring pages on the internet that you can print out and use for free.

Materials Needed

barn red 8" by 10" wooden photo frame

double mat set (I selected off-white and barn red) with a 4" by 6" opening

piece of tea-stained muslin fabric measuring 8" by 10" in size

8" by 10" piece vanilla colored card stock

embroidery hoop

embroidery needle and black embroidery floss

3 1/2" by 5 1/2" pattern (I got mine from a coloring book)

disappearing ink pen

sharp scissors

wax crayons (optional)

For this project, you will need to find a pattern that you like. I was able to find mine in a child's holiday coloring book. If the pattern you like is large in size, you can scan it into your computer and shrink it to the size that you want. You will want to iron your tea stained piece of muslin fabric before you begin to remove any creases.

Step 1: Using a disappearing ink pen, trace the outline and details of your pattern onto tea-stained muslin fabric. Once it has been traced, color in any areas that you want to add a little color to, with your wax crayons. I chose to color in my snowman's gloves, scarf and ear muffs. Once this has been completed, place your muslin fabric into your embroidery hoop.

Step 2: Using black embroidery floss (3 strands) hand stitch your pattern outline onto your fabric. Try to make sure your stitches are even in size and don't pull them too tight.

Step 3: Remove fabric from the embroidery hoop and mount it onto a piece of 8" by 10" card stock. (I selected the card stock that scrapbooker's use because it's acid-free).

Step 4: Layer your finished piece of work along with the double mats into the wooden frame. Make sure your fabric is pulled tightly so that there are no wrinkles.

You can decide if you want to hang this piece on the wall or if you want to sit it on top of your mantle.

5 Easy Summer Craft Projects for Kids

Are you looking for ways to keep your kids busy during their summer holidays? Keep them creatively entertained for hours with these easy, yet engaging craft activities:

1. Painting Rocks: Your kids will love staying outdoors in your garden or backyard busy painting rocks of garden stones. Supply them with acrylic paints and brushes and let them use their own creative ideas. They could either paint little objects and scenes on larger rocks or paint smaller stones in single or multi colors.

2. Photo Frames: Photo frames can be made and/or decorated in many different ways. Ask kids to choose their favorite summer photos to be framed and supply them with plain plastic or wooden frames. Now ask them to embellish each frame with a theme that matches the photograph. A picture taken on the beach can be displayed in a frame embellished with sand and seashells. A birthday photo can have a frame embellished with birthday clipart, cutouts or stickers.

3. Wrapping Paper: Let your kids make different types of wrapping for use throughout the year to wrap presents for their friends' and teachers' birthdays. Give them paint and different household supplies that create various patterns on paper. For e.g. sponge, cut vegetables, carved buttons, jar lids etc. They can also make and store some for Christmas.

4. Bead Crafts: Assorted beads in different colors, shapes and sizes make for interesting craft supplies. Kids can create themed jewelry, bead art, pins and little decorations by stringing beads on to wire and then bending wire to create shapes.

5. Playdough: Homemade playdough is one of the oldest and still the most effective of keeping kids busy. Give the kids a 'summer project' to complete before the day ends in which they can make a summer scene or a number of summer themed objects.

Giving these crafts a 'summer' theme will not only give the projects an interesting twist, but it will also make your kids enjoy the season and wait for it to arrive soon next year!

Simple Crafting Projects For Young Children

Crafting with children is a fantastic indoor activity that keeps them focussed, entertained and exploring their creativity. There are so many great ideas for simple straight forward projects for youngsters, and a lot of them can be done with materials that most of us have in our homes already. I want to share three of the biggest hits with my kids, very few of the materials in these projects would need to be purchased, and if you already craft at home chances are you will have all of them. I picked all three of these projects and called them "hits" because they are all creating something they can enjoy playing with after they have created them. These projects seem to suit children from ages 3 to about 6 although it really depends on the child some children may become bored too quickly and need something more challenging, and yet others may find them to be a little too challenging. If you give them a try you will be able to see what level of complexity your child is best with.

1. Finger glove puppets - Materials needed: One old finger glove, bobbely eyes, or beans or stickers to use for eyes, a pompom, cotton, or bead for a nose, yarn or marker for the mouth, scissors and white glue. Process: Cut the fingers off of the glove for individual puppets or if you prefer leave the glove as is and make the glove into an entire family of puppets on one hand. Cutting the fingers off of the glove may cause them to fray or unravel, you (the adult) can use a hot glue gun to run a ring of glue around the frayed edge just before it hardens squish the edge between your thumb and finger to flatten the glue and push it into the fabric. This will stop the fraying but please be careful not to do it while the glue is still hot. Next the children create their puppet by glueing on their faces and they can even design little ties or shirts to glue on them, or use yarn to make hair. You can even create a mini puppet show out of a cereal box. Then play puppets and have fun!

2. Paper plate masks - Materials needed: small paper plates, markers, sparkles and glue, or sparkle glue, feathers are always fun, popsicle stick or elastic, construction paper, scissors, tape. Process: Cut eyes, nose and a mouth out of the paper plate, children decorate however they like making them bright and colourful or monster like, whatever they choose is an expression of their creativity, encourage it. When they have finished decorating you can either tape a popsicle stick to one side of the mask for them to hold up to their face or you can punch two holes in the plate and tie an elastic to it that will wrap around the back of their heads to keep the masks on. Have a costume party!

3. Shiny cardboard crowns - Materials needed: empty cereal box or other cardboard, tin foil, beads, shinny paper cut into geometric shapes, plastic gems, pieces of old or plastic jewelry, painted macaroni, basically anything they can glue onto the crown to make it look flashy or bright and fun, scissors, glue and tape. Process: cut out the shape of a crown from a cereal box leaving the sides long enough to wrap around the back of your childs head and connect, cover the entire crown with tin foil and glue or tape into place, next let the children decorate as they please with all the decorations you have gathered, when the glue is dry connect the ends together in the back with tape or staples. Play kings and queens and rule the castle!

All three of these projects can be altered a little here and there to be more complex with more supplies offered and more detail put into them, or simplified by the adult doing some of the basics first and just allowing the child to turn it into their own masterpiece with decorations.

Can a Business Be Made Out of My Craft Projects?

When we think of crafts we think of the artsy crafts but a craft can be anything from art to a trade; it can be a skill, a profession, a job, a special technique or ability. So the craft business is as vast as your imagination. I have brought my crafts to craft shows where the items were supposed to be handmade crafts. Thinking that these shows were going to be the artsy type of crafts I was surprised and a little disappointed in what was accepted as a handmade craft. There was flavored popcorn, candy, food items, soda bottles filled with colored sand, tie-dyed t-shirts, silk screened t-shirts, body lotions and even flea market items. So be careful and check out the shows before you register to show your crafts.

Then there are the juried craft shows where you send in a picture and description of your craft and it is judged before it is accepted. These shows are very specific as to what will be accepted.

Craft business is big business and you can turn your craft projects into a business. You can start off on a small scale selling at craft shows or wholesale to small craft stores. But if you really want to go all out and start a lucrative business then you will need a website. People like handmade crafts and more and more people like the convenience of shopping online in the comfort of their own home.

Some tips on promoting your business: Make sure you put labels on all your crafts with your website. This is a good way to promote your business and people will remember you. At craft shows have business cards to hand out. Put flyers up in stores. Promote your website by exchanging links with other crafters.

If you have a quality craft and you are willing to put in some hard work establishing a business then it is possible to sell your crafts for a profit.

If you are looking for a craft that has annual sales that exceed $2 billion then candle making is for you. It has low start-up costs, is fun to do and people love candles. You can make candles from your own home and your creations are as vast as your imagination.

Candles sales exceed $2 billion annually, 7 out of 10 homes burn candles. With statistics like these there is definitely a market for making and selling candles. For more information on finding your niche in the craft business visit [http://www.countrywinecrafts.com].
